History of Department

Meiktila University of Economics has been established in 2001. Department of  Commerce has started to offer Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree. In 2004, Master of Commerce (M.Com) Degree is offered. After that, Master of Business Administration (Nay Pyi Taw Campus) was also begun in 2018. Master of  Banking and Finance (MBF) degree was offered in 2019. Ph.D (Commerce) is also running. At present, Department of Commerce takes classes of Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Master of Commerce (M.Com), Master of Business Administration (MBA) (Nay Pyi Taw Campus) (3rd Batch), Master of Banking and Finance (Nay Pyi Taw Campus) (2nd Batch) and Ph.D (Commerce).

The Department is committed to integrate all facets of commerce to educate and train innovative and competent human resource globally suitable for industry, business and service sector and to equip and encourage them to start their own ventures in urban or rural areas benefitting both the classes and masses.

Mission

We are dedicated to secure and deliver knowledge through teaching, research and extension; and to seek continuous improvement in the quality of education to remain globally competitive.

Objectives

  • To consolidate, strengthen and update the existing programmes
  • To expand and diversify to cover the frontier areas by introducing newly certain innovative academic programmes
  • To foster research in regional studies that too of interdisciplinary nature
  • To keep regular interaction with business and industry with the help of establishment of chairs and entering into MOUs
  • To introduce professional courses, short-term, long-term and need based
  • To undertake extension and consultancy activities
  • To adopt latest educational technology such as use of computer, internet etc.
  • To adopt appropriate methods of assessment and evaluation of performance of learners
  • To improve soft skills to bring about balanced personality development of the learners
  • To explore training and development opportunities for both teachers and students

Dr. Winne Tun obtained her B.Com degree in 1983, CPA degree in 1987, and M.Com degree in 1996 from the Yangon Institute of Economics. She holds her PhD in Commerce from Yangon University of Economics, in 2015. Her teaching experiences are in Marketing Management, Human Resource Management and Financial Management.

Dr. Khin  Marlar  Maung

Professor

Dr. Khin  Marlar  Maung studied her first degree (B.Com) and second degree (M.Com) in Yangon University of Economics. She holds Ph.D in Business Administration from Naresuan University, Thailand, in February, 2015. Her specializations are human resource management and human resource development, research methodology, organizational behavior, business ethics and international business management. She has published (17) research papers in both international and national journals since 2014. She attends seminars and conferences every year. She is now the Professor at the Department of Commerce in Meiktila University of Economics.

U Than Naing Oo

Associate Professor

U Than Naing Oo is currently working as Associate Professor of Commerce department in Meiktila University of Economics.  He studies Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) and Master of Commerce (M.Com) in Yangon University of Economics in 2002 and 2009 respectively. Now, he is also a Ph.D degree candidate and his specialized subject is Logistics Management. He takes part the responsibility for lecturing to the students and supervision of masters’ theses and research papers for over seventeen of teaching experience.

Daw Htaik Htaik Lin

Daw Htaik Htaik Lin is Associate Professor at Department of Commerce in Meiktila University of Economics. She studied Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) and Master of Commerce (M.Com) in Yangon University of Economics. Now, she is a Ph.D candidate now.  Her specialized subjects are Accounting, Marketing and Finance. 

Dr. Win Than Dar

Dr. Win Than Dar is currently working as Associate Professor of Commerce department in Meiktila University of Economics. Her first degree is Bachelor of Economics BA(Eco). She studied master of commerce (M.Com) in Yangon University of Economics. She got her Ph.D (Commerce) from Yangon University of Economics in 2020 and her specialized subject is Service Management. She is also  interested in Operations Management. During her 20 years of working experience, she supervises bachelor papers and master theses. 

Daw Khin Ohnmar Pa Pa Naing

Daw Khin Ohnmar Pa Pa Naing is an Associate Professor, Department of Commerce in Meiktila University of Economics. She obtained her first degree (B.Com) and second degree (M.Com) from Yangon University of Economics. Now she is a Ph.D candidate and her specialized subject is Human Resource Management. She is also interested in Accounting and Strategic Management. 

Daw Hnin Mar Lar

Daw Hnin Mar Lar is serving as a Lecturer at Department of Commerce, Meiktila University of Economics. Since 2009, she has been a full-time faculty member of Commerce at Meiktila University of Economics. She obtained her Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree and Master of Commerce degree from Meiktila University of Economics in 2005 and 2008 respectively. Subsequently, she has obtained a Master of Arts (Economics) from Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation, Hiroshima University, Japan in 2015. She is specialized in Strategic Management, marketing management, human resource management, and Financial Management.

Daw Phyo Wai Lwin

Daw Phyo Wai Lwin is currently working as a Lecturer at the Department of Commerce, Meiktila University of Economics. She started to join the Department of Commerce, Meiktila University of Economics as a tutor in 2009. She got B.Com Degree in 2005 and M.Com Degree in 2008. She also obtained Master of Management (Leadership & HR Management) from College of Management Mahidol University, Thailand in 2017. Her fields of interests are in Strategic Management, Leadership & Human Resource Management and Financial Management.

Daw May Lae Oo

Daw May Lae Oo is serving as a Lecturer at the Department of Commerce, Meiktila University of Economics. She received her Master of Commerce (M.Com) degree from Meiktila University of Economics in 2008. She enjoys to give the lecture to the students for the subjects of Accounting and Finance, Financial Management, Organization Change and Development.

U Chan Win Aung

U Chan Win Aung is working as a Lecturer at Meiktila University of Economics for 6 years since 2015. He graduated Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from Meiktila University of Economics, in 2006. He also got MBA Degree from that University in 2011, also. Now, he is serving as a lecturer in Department of Commerce in Meiktila University of Economics.

Daw Nan Zar Zar Myint

Daw Nang Zar Zar Myint got her first degree (Bachelor of Commerce, B.Com) and second degree (Master of Commerce, M.Com) from Meiktila University of Economics in 2010 and 2014. She also obtained International Master of Business Administration (iMBA) Degree from Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM), Thailand in 2020. Now, she is serving as a Lecturer in Department of Commerce in Meiktila University of Economics. She has been working as a faculty member of Department of Commerce since 2015.

Daw Aye Thandar Tun

Daw Aye Thandar Tun is a MBA degree holder from Meiktila University of Economics and also got Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) Degree in 2014. She is currently working as an Assistant Lecturer at Department of Commerce, Meiktila University of Economics. She also has four years teaching experience in commerce specialized subjects.
